Rebekah Delgado

REBEKAH DELGADO from CICCONE

1. Who are you?

I am Rebekah Delgado of the UK rock’n’roll band Ciccone.

2. No, really, who are you?

I am a homo sapien inhabitant of the planet known as Earth who wears her heart on her sleeve and never stops thinking.
3. What are you up to at the moment?

I’ve been away on tour I’m trying to catch up with a million e-mails that have accumulated while I’ve been away.

4. What three rules would make up your manifesto?

Do you mean my personal manifesto – or the bands’? Mine (though I would think long and hard about putting these opinions in lyrics, is near impossible to do without undermining the point) –
1/Everyone should have access to clean water/basic medicines/basic education and a roof over their head.
2/Redistribute wealth at least a little more fairly.
3/Make rapists, murderers and child molesters scour refuse dumps for recyclable material and pay the victims and their families from the profits and the rest go to new renewable energy resources or any other priority cause.

5. If you were the dictator of a modern industrial country, what would
you abolish? What laws would you implement?

This is not the question to ask me because I’ll go on and on for hours. I’ll keep it short. If I was a dictator I’d firstly depose myself then organise elections. If I got elected then I would abolish the despots and ensure everyone got to have a good quality of life. I’d implement that everyone must look after each other and share all bounties. In general I’d make more long-term policies than most leaders and I’d prize happiness above wealth and extrapolate the two.

6. What are your lyrics about?

Heartbreak, love, people who think they know everything when they know toss, ummmm, death, sadness, votes for women ;o), joy, nights out & nights in, britain, our street.

7. What is your opinion on the contemporary music scene? What do you
like/dislike?

The current music scene is great, best it’s been for a long time. I like the fact that guitar music is popular again. I dislike the fact that so much of it is cock rock. I also dislike that the music press in this country is still so enamoured with constructing imaginary movements rather than covering the real people making real music.

8. What distinguishes you from your peers?

Good songs that should stand the test of time. I hope. Also an honesty in our lyrics. There are many other things but it would sound like boasting if I said them, you’ll have to see us yourself.

9. Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Good songs that should stand the test of time. I hope. Also an honesty in our lyrics. There are many other things but it would sound like boasting if I said them, you’ll have to see us yourself.

10. Any regrets?

I’ve had a few, but then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption. br>
