Keith John Adams, song maker, singer of said songs and person: normal.
3. What are you up to at the moment?
Recording a new album in a proper studio and recovering from a US tour. (note: answer designed to emphasise response from question 2.)
4. What three rules would make up your manifesto?
my three rules are 1. do it. you’ll more likely regret you didn’t do it than you did. 2. love love love 3. energy cannot be lost – merely transferred.
5. If you were the dictator of a modern industrial country, what would
you abolish? What laws would you implement?
i would abolish booze – it is evil and delicious. i would also abolish you, reader of interviews, you are scum. Laws to implement? I would make theft and murder illegal, we could do without them for starters. Inevitably i’d start off well but end up power crazed. i’d make people listen to each other, listen to each other talking bollocks.
6. What are your lyrics about?
me.
7. What is your opinion on the contemporary music scene? What do you
like/dislike?
i can’t remember what contemporary music is like. i’m very fond of deerhoof, lightning bolt, the apples in stereo, the bees, calvin and the cookies, the free french, giant sand, vic chestnut, visitations and many other modern music types. i like oldsters like
Fred astaire, hank williams. and the Beatles are pretty good, i recommend them to your readers – look under b in a record store.
8. What distinguishes you from your peers?
they sit in the house of lords and are old – i’m young(ish) and sitting in my living room.
9. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
the house of lords.
10. Any regrets?
Oh my! I regret so much. All those things i did do when i should have didn’t. Not loving enough when it was obvious i could. Eating foi gras – it’s cruel you know. Maybe there’s time though?… maybe i can make amends…say sorry to all the people i’ve wronged…say “yes i had bad intentions, but you know i’m not bad through and through”…be less selfish… yes yes yes, i’m going to do it now.
